Art In Public Places

Check Out Our Artist!

Every time a new school in Washington state is built with “matching” dollars from the state (i.e. the state paid for some of the construction) it must spend some of that money in the area of visual arts. This program is called “Art In Public Places”. The Edgerton team, consisting of a student, parent, staff members and a local artist, have spent numerous hours looking at over one-hundred artists. Each artist shared four slides of their work. From there, we narrowed our list of artists to about twenty, according to our likings and how they fit into our agreed upon criteria. Next, we looked at another ten slides from each artist as we narrowed the field even further. I am pleased to share that the committee has chosen muralist John Wehrle. The Edge’s team chose to commission this artist to work over the next year to produce art for the school. More to come on this topic, but you can checkout at www.troutinhand.com
